An HTF poster says The Picture of Dorian Gray is due October 7 with Angela Lansbury commentary and additional extras. Not sure if it's part of a set or a
stand-alone release. We'll probably be getting an announcement soon regarding Beast With Five Fingers, The Walking Dead, etc. Anyone with news can post
it here and I'll update this post with any and all Halloween titles.

I'm all for BEAST, WALKING, and FRANK 70 -- but DORIAN was dullsville the one time I saw it, some 7 years ago. Eh, I'd give it one more try.

I saw the laserdisc of DORIAN GRAY recently, thanks to a Latarnian. A very good film, lowkey and unassuming, but very effective. Excited about the dvd release,
and the other titles too.

I've been waiting for The Picture of Dorian Gray to get a DVD release for years. George Sanders simply purrs Wilde's best lines/dialogue as Lord Henry
Wotton. This is the film that me a Sanders fan for life. The first time I saw the film I was also floored by Angela Lansbury as Sybil Vane. Wide eyed innocence
personified. She conveys some impressive emotional range with those eyes too. I'd never rated her very highly, but her performance in this film still
surprises me on every viewing. While Hurd Hatfield has never been my idea of Wilde's golden boy Dorian, his performance has grown on me over the years. His
strange detachment and cold aloofness works on some level. There's something very disturbing beneath the surface in his performance that creeps me out on
some level. Donna Reed has little to do, but my God she looks stunning! I'm absolutely chuffed to read the news that one of my favorite films is finally
making it to DVD. Great news!

kind of three dimensional or puffy.

If I recall his technique was labor-intensive in the extreme, and the Dorian painting was a rare instance where he had to kick one out (and that his brother
painted the pre-decay version).
They had some weird demo of his color-paddle-system, that somehow was supposed to make you pant using complimentary color of what you saw, but I never quite
grasped his reasoning,

It's odd, because why he would have friends and lovers is something of a mystery given what a void he his. It makes his admirers seem unhealthy for pursuing someone who's basically a mannequin. |

DORIAN GRAY question? | ||
|
Though this question is unrelated to the WARNER HORROR, it does have something to do with DORIAN GRAY. FORREST J. ACKERMAN has a DORIAN GRAY mask made up by
DICK SMITH . Which DORIAN GRAY movie is this from? I know it is not from the 1945 version but I don't know which movie had that creepy DORIAN GRAY mask.

I think it was a TV version as I recall, maybe from the late 50's/early 60's?

Yeah, that was a TV show from very early 60s.

This IS good news. Dorian Gray is one of my favourites. An almost perfect film. Dull? I can't imagine anyone finding a movie of this calibre dull.

As sirharryflashman noted in his post, the dialogue in this film, especially Sanders', is so damn good I never tire of revisiting it. I'm really very
happy this is coming this year as I thought we'd have to wait at least another year for it. In spite of the absence of sets from Universal and the Midnite
Movies line, they'll still be some great stuff this fall thanks to Warner, Fox, and Sony.

Wow, some terrific picks, sirharryflashman! And yes, Donna Reed's a total babe in this (I've always liked Angela Lansbury, too).
