Two outstanding Philippino movie blogs, Simon Santos' Video 48 and Andrew Leavold's The Search for Weng Weng, have
recently turned up some original advertising material for the Cirio Santiago production TOKYO 1960 (produced 1956, released 1957)...
In view of the artwork and the prominent claim that the movie was 'filmed in Tokyo' (despite the Philippino footage having been shot at studios in Manila)... I can't help but conclude that perhaps Raymond Burr wasn't the only foreigner being edited into GOJIRA (1954) to create a distinct overseas version of the Godzilla tale.
I wondered whether anyone here might know anything more of this Philippino oddity...
