May 24 08 9:41 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Two outstanding Philippino movie blogs, Simon Santos' Video 48 and Andrew Leavold's The Search for Weng Weng, have recently turned up some original advertising material for the Cirio Santiago production TOKYO 1960 (produced 1956, released 1957)... In view of the artwork and the prominent claim that the movie was 'filmed in Tokyo' (despite the Philippino footage having been shot at studios in Manila)... I can't help but conclude that perhaps Raymond Burr wasn't the only foreigner being edited into GOJIRA (1954) to create a distinct overseas version of the Godzilla tale. I wondered whether anyone here might know anything more of this Philippino oddity...

May 24 08 10:34 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The artwork on the second advert above certainly originates from GODZILLA! KING OF THE MONSTERS. There's a comparison with the original at susie_arabia's blog: http://blog.livedoor.jp/susie_arabia/archives/cat_50036112.html Google also casts up a reference to the movie as a Godzilla flick at the Kaijuphile forums [link]. But apart from that, the movie appears to have slipped under the radar completely prior to the recent rediscovery of these ads. I particularly like its current IMDb entry, identifying it simply as an 'action' flick with a 'number in the title'!

Anyone know if those German releases of the Godzilla films with the title changed to make mention of Frankenstien actually dubbed or edited in some way to tie them into Frankenstien? I couldn’t find the poster though. Again, these are replies to a thread, not 'reactions to a blog'. As for the 'research' you undertook,... a simple Google image search would have turned up the poster you 'couldn't find' in mere seconds: link. Another fan noted that albeit very limited, he liked how IMDB or the Internet & Movie Data Base labels Tokyo 1960 as “an action flick with a number in the title!” proof that nobody seems to know anything about this movie the moment after it was released! It wasn't 'another fan', it was me, responding on my own thread. This very thread, where we are now. Maybe I can become a 'third fan' with this post? ...nothing is known about Teodoro C. Santos either. His name doesn’t appear in all Filipino movie blogs. He doesn’t have a filmography. Wikipedia doesn’t have him on file either. Neither does Google. Yahoo? Zero. It gets interesting… ...what if Teodoro C. Santos never really existed and was only a pseudonym for Santiago himself [...] ? However, THIS (and all of your conjecture stemming from it) is the main problem that I have with your blog entry. The director's name is not Teodoro C. Santos, but rather Teodorico C. Santos; it's written plainly enough on the two pieces of advertising material at the top of this thread. And Teodorico C. Santos was active (and indeed, a reasonably major figure) in the Filipino movie industry for several decades; even the lacklustre IMDb has a fairly well-sized filmography covering some of his (plentiful) output: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1288471/ I wish you all the best with continuing your blog, and hope that doing so will help you to hone your 'research' skills in the future.
