Quentin really disappointed me here. I'm a Tarantino fan, and one of the things I liked about him was that he was just a regular video store clerk/geek who managed to become a very successful director and pretty much achieved his dream. I would have thought he was the type of person who was able to appreciate the whole idea of fame and fortune, and would welcome this type of attention. So when I see him go off on a cameraman like this, it's really disappointing. Would he rather still be completely unknown and struggling in the video store he once worked at, making barely enough money to survive?
I feel I am in the minority on this, though; most people tend to side with the celebrity in instances such as this. I just don't understand why a celeb gets so bent out of shape. Not that I don't completely understand the value of some privacy; I certainly wouldn't want someone filming me as I walked out of a coffee shop! But it's one of the quirks that comes with $uper-fame and being a celebrity -- to be photographed and maybe when you least expect it. I do take into some consideration that perhaps Quentin was caught on a bad day as we all have them... but if you watch the clip, what would have happened if Tarantino had just waved and mumbled "hi", or even just completely ignored them and kept on walking until he got to his car or destination, and the cameraman had nothing to film?
In so many of these cases, if the celeb would just say and do nothing and not give the photographer what he wants, maybe they'd give up and move on to a more interesting subject.
