I don't miss the hiss, scratches, thumping of a warped disc, pitch fluctuating from improper center holes...(I could go on and on)

I think the lack of need for maintaining your CDs went a long way in its popularity. The most you have to do with CDs is make sure they don't get terribly scratched (which still happens, and still skips!) I've always been careful about my records-- storing them correctly, making sure they're sleeved, cleaning them before each play real quick, changing my needle when it needs to be. Doing all of this yields a listening experience that is as clean as a CD and sounds much better, in my opinion. That's not to say that I don't have a CD player. I use it often, but when I opt to sit down and listen to a great orchestral recording will I listen to a good condition, well mastered LP, such as those done in the Mercury Living Presence series, first? Of course.

I have around 8,000 Lps and still add titles now and again. I work in a used bookstore that also sells used Lps so I get to see virtually eveything on vinyl that comes through. Recently, I bought a Lp to CD converter and have been burning some of the 350 plus soundtrack albums I own that have not yet been released to CD (if ever). When I finish those I'll work on my comedy albums followed by my jazz and blues albums. Of course, when a wild hair hits, I deviate from the plan and record whatever hits my fancy.

Yes, have some...

Put your $100 towards a USB turntable, convert your vinyl to digital, and use your computer as your stereo. I've slowly been converting my never to be released on CD albums from vinyl to MP3. I DO miss the covers, back covers, and inner sleeves of my records. You could actually see the darn artwork! I bought some album cover frames from Aaron Brothers during their 2 for 1 sale. great way to display your classic album art covers, like Uriah Heep's Demons and Wizards by Roger Dean.
Cool Steve. I've heard of those USB turntables. I only have a lap top, but it does have USB ports (it's a Sony Vaio), so I guess that's all I would need?
