Finding a situation like that is always cool, but tinged with sadness for the one that either died or lost the collection. I was haunting a flea market for such things as I always do, and found some boxes of comics containing a lot of boarded and bagged graphic novels, which I like. Not much for regular issues any more.
I asked about them and found out that the dude selling them had gotten them for free. A neighborhood woman had split with her husband and put out a large amount of boxes of his collection on the curb as spite. She was giving them away before the trash man came. That Witch with a B!
So, although I was lucky to find them (as the dude was selling them), I was sad for the poor fellow (so much like me in comic taste) who lost them due to plain old meaness. If I knew who he was, I would have let him know where he could find them, but no such luck.

LOL! Ain't that the truth! Some of these garage sale hounds will talk you down from a quarter to a dime if they can.

You have to remember though that this collection was obviously a big part of Edna's sons life. She has held onto it since 2001, probably out of love for her son. Seeing it go to another person who will cherish it is probably worth more than the money that it could have brought in. Plus look at all the talk of her son this has spurred. He's living on in some form. As a parent, that is one heck of a gift.
