Apr 20 08 10:21 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA by Wociech Kilar THE WOLF MAN by Frank Skinner, Hans Salter & Charles Previn THE INVISIBLE MAN (which is only an 8 minute suite but I love it just the same) by Heinz Roemheld THE MUMMY(1959) my favorite of all Hammer scores by Franz Reizenstein SON OF FRANKENSTEIN by Frank Skinner ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN also by Frank Skinner (which I am champing at the bit for it's re-recorded release) And Last, but certainly not least, PSYCHO by the incomparable Bernard Herrmann! Apr 26 08 8:15 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Robert (a.k.a. Bob) Cobert. All his scores, Dark Shadows to Winds of war/War Rememberance. He is a true genius. He has composed several works for me, so I have first hand knowledge of his non-soundtrack style. I especially love the score for Night of Dark Shadows. Jerry Goldsmith's The Omen & original Planet of the Apes. Les Baxter's score to House of Usher is Brilliant....I like all his AIP tracks. James Bernard's Hammer Scores are Great - my favorite ones are Curse of Frankenstein & Frankenstein Created Woman - they are all great!!! James Newton Howard's The Village is wonderful.

Also stuff like I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN and anything by guys like Paul Dunlap, Frank Skinner, Paul Sawtell, the bombastic Albert Glasser, and especially Bernard Herrmann. One of my all-time fave horror scores is THE FLY by Howard Shore. Also: SUSPIRIA--The Goblins CARRIE--Pino Dinaggio ALIEN--Jerry Goldsmith PLAYGIRL KILLER--? Can anyone say they shed a tear when the old man in the cottage (Bride of Frankenstien) was crying over Karloff lying on the bed, and Karloff sheds a tear!Then the fade out of the crucifix on the wall! Excellant use of the carmera It's moving! Is that music in the background Ava' Maria (sp)??? Halloween and Phantasm are pretty neat too! Not horror but scifi, 2001 Sace Oddessy is wonderful for the Classical works! I also like the movie score for Romeros Dawn of the Dead 78! I also like the open music score of Swan Lake used for Universal The Mummy an Brownings Dracula ........ I rather stay here...With all the madmen...Then perish with the sadmen roaming free..... May 26 08 1:41 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Yes, that is (Franz Schubert's) "Ave Maria" (it was put to music by many composers, but Schubert's is one of the 2 most heard). My favorite horror scores are: Horror of Dracula Brides of Dracula (actually, mostly the 'crucifix' music when Cushing whips out the cross, and the music when Van Helsing puts the iron to his neck!) Dawn of the Dead (US theatrical release - the Euro release takes much of the same music and 'misplaces' it, to my mind) Bride of Frankenstein The "Kharis" music, played when ever Kharis is sneaking up on his next victim "House of Frankenstein", when Elanka (sp?) first sees that Daniel is a hunchback. "But you will talk to me...sometimes...won't you...?" I don't consider Psycho a horror film, but Herrmann's music to that started me on a path, in high school, towards an ambition to score movies. I didn't stay with music, but still have a love for movie music. Seventh Voyage of Sinbad Jason and the Argonauts (though I consider these 'fantasy' rather than 'horror'

Dracula's Daughter (1936) Son of Frankenstein (1939) The Wolf Man (1941) The Body Snatcher (1945) The Night of the Hunter (1955) The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) House of Usher (1960) The City of the Dead (1960) The Brides of Dracula (1960) ... I love that crucifix music too! It's a real stereotype with the organ blaring away, but so perfect for the moment. 1960 was a great year for horror film music. Nosferatu: Vampyr der Nacht (1979)
