Now that they've brought the Wolfman back, could
Frankenstein be next? If so should it be a remake, or a sequel, perhaps taking place between Bride and Son?

I'd like to see a film that fills in the gap between BRIDE and SON--lots of possibilities there.

Looking for a sequel to Bride, while it would be great, probably wouldn't be the direction Universal would approach a new Frankenstein film. The majority
of the contemporary audience wouldn't have any idea of any story references to Bride. Any new film would have to start at the beginning. Goodness knows
that neither the DeNiro or Quaid versions of Frankenstein sparked any interest in a new series.
Nice lightning effect on the Gogos art! |

I'd like to see a film that fills in the gap between BRIDE and SON--lots of possibilities there.I doubt if they would do it, but it would be cool to have it done in black and white and make it as if it had actually been produced around 1936. Or, they could pick up after A&C Meet Frankenstein and have the monster revived in the present day. |

Very well, then- who would play The Monster? Henry Frankenstein? Elizabeth? The Burgermaster? I'll tell ya who! Actors and actresses 15 to 20 years younger
than the characters they would be playing, With a cast that resembles that of "TRL" on the various MTV channels.
How do you like that? I answered my own question.
"How can I handcuff a bloomin' shirt??!?"

Goodness knows that neither the DeNiro or Quaid versions of Frankenstein sparked any interest in a new series.I believe you are right about that, but they wouldn't really need to go back to the start and have the whole creation bit. After a few flashbacks, they could start with the monster roaming the countryside, and tell the story of Dr Frankenstein's quest to destroy him. Along the way they could introduce Ygor, who is hanged in the film, and have the monster put on that fur vest seen in Son as his creator tracks him through the snow of the mountains. We would all get a kick out of it, and current audiences wouldn't have to know it was tied in to anything else at all. But, as you said, it is not very likely this is the route they will take. |

Several months ago on the IMDB I proposed a remake of the Universal Frankenstein that would be a combination of the first film and Bride of Frankenstein. I
even included some casting suggestions:
Henry Frankenstein ... Jude Law The Monster ... Liam Neeson Dr. Praetorius ... John Hurt Elizabeth ... Keira Knightly Dr. Waldman ... Max Von Sydow Blind Hermit ... Peter O'Toole Fritz ... Andy Serkis |

Not bad,but we might need a shovel to get Von Sydow and O'Toole.Several months ago on the IMDB I proposed a remake of the Universal Frankenstein that would be a combination of the first film and Bride of Frankenstein. I even included some casting suggestions: |

I don't think star-studding the production cast would be the way to go. Instead, I would probably draw from the world of seasoned American and British
stage actors, preferably ones with some movie experience behind them.
Likewise, an out-and-out remake of the 1931 film seems pointless. Why not go back to Shelley's novel? There are some fine, dramatic scenes in the book.

Guillermo del Toro's been teasing that he has a take on FRANKENSTEIN he'd very much like to try out...

I'd like to see a Cronenberg FRANKENSTEIN. Certainly it wouldn't be in the 'classic' style, and surely it wouldn't be Shelley, but it
would be interesting. The theme of creating life which then turns on the creator, seems ideal for Cronenberg.

that Universal would turn it into this great big special effects "CAMP" extravaganza ala "Van Helsing", at the expense of any semblance of
story, and ruin it. This is my fear for the new Wolfman picture. I hope they don't go in that direction.

How about a film version of Rovin's book Return of the Wolf Man. With some clever camera work and footage from A&C Meet Frankenstein it could be very
cool. They would have to recreate the old A&C castle set though.

I wish Uni would revive their plans for a CGI animated Franky film. an all animated CGI cartoon is our only realistic hope of seeing imagery and monsters like
the classics again. Creepy expessionist cinemtography and Jack Pierce make up designs probrably won't fly with the suits these days... but if you package
it all as a CGI animated film..... Just please no singing unless it is the song from FRANKENSTIEN MEETS THE WOLFMAN done in jest!

This is my fear for the new Wolfman picture. I hope they don't go in that direction.Given the stills we've seen for the new WOLF MAN, and the apparent love of the original these filmmakers have (along with some of the backlash to VAN HELSING), I've got high hopes for the new film. |
