There was an ASTRO-ZOMBIES 2?

Unfortunately, yes there was an ASTRO ZOMBIES 2. Yours truly did the poster art. It's the most amateurish movie I've ever seen, made by Mikels as part
of a film class which means the crew was made up of students who were paying Ted to learn about film making. Pretty good way to get your movie made cheaply I
guess. It was actually sold at Best Buy for a while which amazed me. I just noticed that Alpha will be distributing it soon.

Great poster!
The late, great Liz Renay is in it?
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

The late, great John Carradine is even in it... sort of.

Cool poster. Sorry about the movie.
Ted is a nice enough guy. Too bad in all these years he hasn't learned how to make an even decent movie. Taking a page out of Ed Wood's book and featuring a long dead star is really grasping. At least in Carridine's case, he'll always have some nuggets of gold... The Universal classics, even The Sentinel and The Howling. Ted should be so lucky. |

Oh, man, there's LOTS more than that! There are the Ford films, HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES, TEN COMMANDMENTS, etc., etc. Best, -Craig W. |

It may not be another "Naked Monster" but, at least he's making movies his way, without the bean-counters interfering. More power to ya , Ted...

Mark of the Astro-Zombies | ||
|
I think the biggest problem with Mark of the Astro-Zombies was Ted promising too many friends roles in the movie. The movie was supposed to be camp. The idea
for the talking head of John Carradine came from me and mask maker Jay Gowey. Originally we wanted a scene to tie the original to the sequal. Jay suggested a
skeleton in a gold bikini referencing the girl in the bikini who was chained to a table in the original and the film never mentioned her again and the police
never rescued her. The skeleton in a bikini was too obscure so we thought about a life mask of John Carradine hanging on the wall. We eventually decided on
John Carradine's head in a pickle jar. I bought the life mask on ebay and Jay made the head. Problem was it was made from resin, not plaster to it floated
in the jar of liquid. Jay's idea was an electronic collar, life support and the head came to life. Clever dialog from Robert Taylor (and the voice of Dr.
DeMarco) and the head came to life on film.

Pretty good way to get your movie made cheaply I guess. Local Fort Worth/Dallas UTA teacher/filmmaker Andy Anderson pulled the same trick with his students in 1984 and the cheapo science fiction film INTERFACE. Lou Diamond Phillips was one of the students! I wonder if he still receives residuals on this one? Actually, close to a dozen students went on to further work. Some of them are still working. |

Saw, and enjoyed, the original ASTRO-ZOMBIES. (Boy, as a kid, that poster really creeped me out when it turned up at the drive-in.) Saw the sequel at a nice
price at Best Buy, and was tempted to pick it up (mainly because of Tura Satana and Brinke Stevens, and because it had a cool cover (didn't know Kerry did
it, though). Hmmm...maybe wait and see if the trilogy becomes a boxed set?

I doubt the trilogy will ever be a boxed set. Ted doesn't own the rights to part 1 and he probably hasn't even finished the script for part 3

I got into touch with Ted today about an interview and a custom soundtrack a friend made of Girl in Gold Boots.
Also shouldn't this be in Coming Soon. I saw 2 today at Kim's but didn't grab it. I was in a rush. I am getting a copy sent to me ASAP

This certainly isn't CLASSIC HORROR NEWS, is it? Perhaps we need a new folder entitled SCHLOCK HORROR NEWS.
