Apr 17 08 4:36 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I've found myself being totally obsessed with the German Krimi films of the 50s-70s, and am totally aware of the earlier attempts at filming Wallace's stories (he even filmed one himself, no?). Besides HUMAN MONSTER and MYSTERY LINER, what else is/was there and what are the "best" (relatve terms, here) dvds out there?

Apr 17 08 5:14 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I can't tell you if they were good or bad, but in the 1930s for instance, several E.W. adaptations were shot in Great-Britain, like "The Terror", "Return of the Terror", etc. Among them was a movie shot in three languages: - The Ringer - directed by Walter Forde, from the play by E.W. and his novel, "The Gaunt Stranger". - Der Hexer - directed by Carl Lamac (German version) - Le jugement de minuit - directed by Alexander Esway & André Charlot (in French) All three versions were filmed in Beaconsfield Studios. The same novel was also filmed under the title "The Gaunt Stranger". Another E.W. book was adapted in Holland, also in the Thirties. Another E.W. novel was shot in two versions in Great-Britain: - The Frightened Lady - 1932 - directed by T. Hayes Hunter, based on E.W.'s "The Case of the Frightened Lady" - Quelqu'un a tué - directed by Jack Forrester - French-language version of above. I know a few of these are out as dvd-r from Sinister Cinema: Sanders Of The River (1935) Chamber Of Horrors (1940) The Squeaker(1937) "The world's going to change tonight, doctor, I'm glad you'll be able to watch it. And... happy Halloween."
