Yeah, I'm right there with ya', Hal. I've been saying that all along.

In PJ's movie, when Kong and Ann are traveling to his lair, and then suddenly in the background of the frame is that doggone waterfall ... a voice in my head said, "Oh, noooo ... not the waterfall-shower/blow-drying scene!" Thankfully, at least, Jackson didn't go there.
LOL, no but he gave us the gentle playful quiet moment where Kong and Ann go ice skating instead. In my opinion that was directly influenced by the gentle playful quiet waterfall moment in Kong '76.......complete with piano music in both scenes.

Eh, if you didn't see it as mocking, you didn't see it as mocking. I sure did. Oh: and right back at cha'...!

For what it's worth, I've heard reports that his screenwriters (Phillipa Boyens and Fran Walsh) had not even seen the orig. Kong until Jackson showed it to them. And then they didn't particularly like it. Don't know if that's true or not, but it' would explain a lot.

I wouldn't have minded if Jackson and co did a different version (after all I'm a fan of the '76 version) without banging on and on about how they were going to do a proper and true, faithful remake of the original (inconspicuously swiping at the '76 version). Thats what bugged me. I thought we were going to get an expanded and updated version of King Kong 1933. Instead we got an expanded and updated version of Kong '33 meets Kong '76......with Mighty Joe Young shoved in there for good measure.

05 Kong is nothing like Mighty Joe Young.

Yes, it's amazing how Kong '05 was supposed to be a faithful remake of the original................then they go and radically change all 4 prominent characters (including Kong himself). I honestly don't even know why they bothered to keep the same names seeing as the characters were so different to those in the original.
