The Anchor Bay disc has a Tim Lucas commentary. Both discs are the Italian version, and reportedly use the same transfer, although the Anchor Bay disc has some additional digital cleanup. The Image disc has some Tim Lucas liner notes not included in the Anchor Bay release, and maybe one or two little things as well--I don't recall.

I have both and the new AB looked better, but it's only available in the box set right now. The Image was made some time ago. Check these sites out Jean... //dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2551 //www.dvdbeaver.comfilm2/DVDReviews30/black_sabbath.htm

Anchor Bay released it as a single disc as well, so it is available on its own.
Doesn't the Image disc also have Tim's commentary?
The Image BLACK SUNDAY disc had a commentary, but not BLACK SABBATH.

Ah, yes, that's right. Thanks.

That really is inconvenient for the customer, when trying to determine which release to get. Sometimes, the person posting a comment is sharp enough to state which specific version they are reviewing.
One of the main problems is, they've merged all the reviews from previous pages into one (even including reviews of VHS releases of the title, I think?). In other words, while new reviewers might have the foresight to state what they're specifically reviewing, they can't do anything about the several-year-old reviews that used to be on pages of seperate releases, which people inevitably have to wade through.

Legal wrangling between Alfredo Leone and MGM.

Out of morbid interest since MGM won't ever give Alfredo the materials (since he didn't create them), why doesn't he just sub-license his rights so they can release the AIP, heck he can make some money at least that way.

MGM believes it already has rights to the U.S. version, so why would they pay Leone anything? I don't imagine this stalemate is going away any time soon.

I have a bootleg DVD-R of the AIP version mastered from the Image Laserdisc. Pretty good quality. I bought it from all places, AMOEBA MUSIC in San Francisco, a brick and mortar store. Hmmm...Makes me wonder?
