Mar 9 08 9:07 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm sure that everyone here has seen this movie, it used to appear on just about every t.v. station that showed horror movies. Its about a surgeon(Bruce Dern) who transplants the head of an insane killer onto the shoulder of hulking, retarded man(John Bloom). The killer controls the body, escapes and goes on a killing spree. Its a very cheap movie, but Dern is good as the surgeon. Its got one strange cast, Casey Kasem plays his best friend, Pat Priest is his wife and resident damsel in distress, and horror host Seymour plays the retarted man's father. I am the Shadow Man, and I never harm the person whose bed I live under.

It was as if some scientist genetically spliced John Waters DNA with the hitch hiker from TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. I too saw this on late night TV,the superstation WTBS to be exact. Entertaining junk.

Never got to see it there, nor did it get much play on TV in my area, at the time. (Although we did get THE THING WITH TWO HEADS on a regular basis.) Loved when MidNite Movies paired those two titles up on DVD. (Seems like a bargain DVD of TWO-HEADED TRANSPLANT and THEY SAVED HITLER'S BRAIN got released, somewhere along the line.)

Pat Priest looks pretty good and it has Bruce Dern - I forgot Casey Kasem was in there and he doubles as his friend and get this-a radio announcer!! Who'd thunk. Cheesy all around. "I saw what I saw when I saw it!"

This same guy was one of the cops who is killed by the mush-faced Frankenstein Monster(his body partner, John Bloom) in DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN.

Feb 6 12 7:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Another story I've posted before (but not, I see, in this thread): Years ago, I'd guess late '70s/early 80s, Bruce Dern was on The Tonight Show. The subject of this movie came up and, of course, Johnny Carson had some fun with it. Dern himself seemed pretty amused by it. According to him, when he arrived at the studio for the last day of filming, the door was locked and no one was around. He said they never shot the scripted end of the film. He also claimed to have never been paid. As I recall, the movie does have some sort of ending, so he may have been story-telling a bit, but it was a funny anecdote as he told it.

The doctor and Danny/Cass die while the doc is trying to save Danny/Cass from a mine cave in; As the rocks come a tumbling down, the repentant Doc reaches out and grabs Danny/Cass's hand to comfort Danny as they die . It may not have been him in the final shot since, as I remember, all you can see is his hand reaching for Danny/Cass's, so maybe he is telling the truth and they shot that later without him. I never liked this film much as a kid. Unfortunately, they used to play it all the time on Creature Double Feature here in Philly, and after seeing it as an adult, I still don't like it very much. I do admit that Cole plays a great leering psycho and Kroeger is about just as disturbing as the slimy lab assistant, but the film itself is so mean spirited and joyless that there is not that much to like about it.
