(03/02/08 11:46 PM) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	The family and I visited Forry a couple of times a day during our recent trip to L.A. He seemed to have gained some much-needed weight, and his color has improved tremendously. That was the first time I had seen him since the birthday party back in December, and he seems to be making continued progress. Anita hasn't seen him since April, and she was amazed at how much better he looked and how much stronger he seemed. As we expected, he was thrilled to see the kids and spent a great deal of time laughing, singing and generally being 4E around them. (I have some great photos that I'll post if my wife ever teaches me how ...). He watches a lot of Jeopardy and other game shows and plenty of movies, and he has a fairly steady stream of visitors. He had a blast doing his cameo in Joe Moe's movie chiller Red Velvet, with Henry Thomas and Kelli Garner, and he was looking forward to his reunion with Ray Bradbury and Ray Harryhausen the following Monday for a discussion and book signing at Mystery and Imagination in Glendale. (A friend sent me some photos of that occasion, and Forry looked dashing and dapper and delighted to be back in the company of his Bat Pack buddies.) He certainly misses being able to go out and eat (as the earlier thread noted, his sense of taste still hasn't returned), but other than that, he seems to be in exceptionally high spirits. He says he still plans to be at Monster Bash this summer ... and I certainly wouldn't bet against him. The man has an iron will and an insatiable thirst for life. He never gives up. I know that John recently moved and has been going through some hectic transitions, so that may have something to do with it. I'll definitely check on it. Michael an ex barn Cat will celebrate 15 years here Tuesday, I know that Mr Ackermans Mr Orange is a Cat Angel sadly. Actually its a Cat Nip Ceegar, so I know that Mr Ackerman would pass. (04/13/08 1:05 PM) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Even though I was under the weather most of the trip, I spent a little time with Forry while I was out in L.A. working on my Bradbury book. We talked some about his friendship with Arthur Clarke, and I had a wonderful sneak peek at his latest movie cameo in Joe Moe's very, very clever (and very, very sexy) mad-killer chiller, Red Velvet, with Henry Thomas, Kelli Garner and Carol Ann Susi (of Kolchak: The Night Stalker fame). I left the day before the Paperback Collectors Show out in the Valley, but Forry was looking forward to reuniting publicly with Ray, William F. Nolan, Frederick Pohl, George Clayton Johnson and other friends from the worlds of sci-fi literature and cinema. I'm glad he had a fine time. Fans should know that Forry is back to hosting his weekly open houses at 11 a.m. every Saturday at the Ackerminimansion, 4511 Russell Ave., in the Los Feliz Village area of Los Angeles. Joe says having that weekly personal contact with fans has been very good for him. If you're in L.A. or in the neighborhood on a Saturday, drop by at 11 and say hello. I believe they post information and updates on the public phone, 323-MOONFAN, so you might want to call beforehand just to double-check the schedule for that week. (05/29/08 9:47 PM) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Visited Forry today with most of my family and a couple of friends. A total of six of us were there from 11:00 - 12:00 noon. Forry was in great spirits, told stories, sang some songs, and was his old self in mind, anyway. His body just gets in the way of his expression but he's all there. He even said he's up for a cameo in a sci-fi film I'm working on. His sense of taste is still absent, but his nurse was cooking some soup for him that sure smelled good. This was my first visit to this new place and I couldn't get over how small it felt compared to the Glendower house. But as long as Forry is happy, we should be thankful that he's able to sit up and talk to us at almost 92 years. Went to the original Tommy's afterwards, only a few miles away, and as of now (11:12pm) am still not hungry. But it was worth it. Perry Last Edited By: PShields79 06/01/08 1:13 AM. Edited 1 times.
