The family and I visited Forry a couple of times a day during our recent trip to L.A. He seemed to have gained some much-needed weight, and his color has
improved tremendously. That was the first time I had seen him since the birthday party back in December, and he seems to be making continued progress. Anita
hasn't seen him since April, and she was amazed at how much better he looked and how much stronger he seemed.
As we expected, he was thrilled to see the kids and spent a great deal of time laughing, singing and generally being 4E around them. (I have some great photos
that I'll post if my wife ever teaches me how ...). He watches a lot of Jeopardy and other game shows and plenty of movies, and he has a fairly
steady stream of visitors. He had a blast doing his cameo in Joe Moe's movie chiller Red Velvet, with Henry Thomas and Kelli Garner, and he was
looking forward to his reunion with Ray Bradbury and Ray Harryhausen the following Monday for a discussion and book signing at Mystery and Imagination in
Glendale. (A friend sent me some photos of that occasion, and Forry looked dashing and dapper and delighted to be back in the company of his Bat Pack buddies.)
He certainly misses being able to go out and eat (as the earlier thread noted, his sense of taste still hasn't returned), but other than that, he seems to
be in exceptionally high spirits. He says he still plans to be at Monster Bash this summer ... and I certainly wouldn't bet against him. The man has an
iron will and an insatiable thirst for life. He never gives up.
