Aspartame is a poison. So is white sugar. Used to be very health-conscious years ago, but gave it up and haven't felt very well ever since. It's one of my resolutions to avoid this stuff like the plague in the New Year as I used to. Hope I can.

I've drunk Diet Coke for 25 years, sometimes more, now much less-- and I don't show any of the 487,983 symptoms of the ubiquitous Aspartame Disease. Nor am I going to get worked up over it. I have no particular desire to live to be a leathery 155 years old. Half of that, with relative good health, is fine for me.
But when the body was designed, there was no such thing as aspartame, or God knows how many other drugs. I believe that soda (and all sorts of other chemicals and things) can indeed lead to health troubles, or death. It's good that you're immune to the stuff, Ted - at least so far? But I never understood the reasoning when people say "I've done (blank) for years, and it never hurt me, so therefore (blank) is not harmful". To me, that's like when people say they feel that cigarettes do not cause lung cancer because they've smoked for 80 years and have gotten away with it themselves, while elsewhere some 50 year old contracts the disease - and hasn't even smoked at all. None of that means that cigarettes don't cause lung cancer.

I don't think Ted is telling us how WE should live. He is only telling us how HE lives and how HE chooses to live and how he will continue to live.
