Note how the people in SLAUGHTER OF THE VAMPIRES on the edges of the shot are being cropped, too. If you'd be willing, please do some caps from FLESH EATERS (and the timecode for the shots). I'll gladly do some comparative scans.

Is there anything on the Dark Sky version not in the original theatrical version?
Yes, the Dark Sky version restores approximately two minutes worth of exposition involving the principal characters. I find the film plays much better with this footage, and without the laboratory flashback scene that was added by distributor M.A. Ripps. I *think* I read that the aborted Retromedia release would have presented the theatrical release version.

I'd be happy to post some caps; let me know if there are any particular shots you'd like to see.

Here's a shot that doesn't look right to me; this is 13 minutes and 15 seconds into the Dark Sky disc.

Though some of the grabs are of slightly different sizes, they all include the uppermost portion of the frame.

Dark Sky, 37 min. 12 sec:
The same image occurs at 34 min. 29 sec. in the theatrical/Sinister version:
And finally (Dark Sky 66 min. 11sec./theatrical 62 min. 28 sec.):

I hate to be contrary, but it IS supposed to be a science-- you leave the art up to the DP. The variables are in the theater for a number of reasons that have been discussed here. There's no reason there should be any variables in transfer. Either you transferred it right or you didn't. Unfortunately, in these instances, they didn't.
