The only place I've noticed a spinner rack loaded with newly published comic books in the last few years has been at a Border's Express (or is it Barnes and Noble Express?) at a mall. Between the magazine wall and the front counter.

It's quite dramatic and devilish and even quite moving, but also does away with so much continuity old and new that...well...decide for yourself. No small thing, and it's probably good for the title over the long haul even if loyal readers will feel that another rug was pulled from under us. And yes, Editor Joe Quesada finally got what he wanted. Now if only Superman could ... Amazing Spider-Man indeed...
this was one of the biggest cop-outs ever perpetrated on a major comics character, to do away with all that continuity was pretty lame, especially after going thru all that drama last year about revealing his secret identity. On the plus, at least the whole "Gwen Stacy had twins by Norman Osborne" thing never happened, although, now Peter & MJ's missing daughter never existed either..to quote The Doctor: "There should've been another way.."

It violates the most basic premise of comic book superheroes...the idea that if the villains know who you are, they'll attack your loved ones. For Spidey to do that is just crappy writing, period.
Actually, originally it started as a way to protect the protagonist from legal reprisal in his or her true identity, pace Zorro and the Shadow.
