A few years back, Sideshow's Creature from the Black Lagoon 12-inch figure won the Rondo for Best Toy, Model or Collectible. I remember packing up the
Rondo and mailing it to Sideshow's headquarters in California, using a name I got from a fellow fan here.
I never heard anything back, and always felt, gee, I wonder if it got there.
Cut to last week, when I found Sideshow's mammoth, inch-thick catalog in a pile of press releases and books that come in to my newspaper.
Which is a pretty cool book, trust me. Anyhow,in the introductory pages are messages from Sideshow's president and photos of the company's headquarters in Thousand Oaks.
Suddenly, there on Page Three is a picture of the main board room and displays of their action figures and models. And there -- if you look REAL closely -- is the Rondo, proudly displayed in a place of prominence!
Can you see it? The first thing on the top shelf?
How cool is THAT???
