Urich had a number of failed pilots also. NBC aired one of them titled BUNCO in the early 80s - his co-star was Tom Selleck.

Wow I had completely forgotten about ELLERY QUEEN (1975) and CITY OF ANGELS (1976) I didn't see them during their short initial run but caught some episodes during the mid 80's when one of the local stations in LA would occasionally air some episodes over the weekend.

I'm probably one of the few people in the world who actually enjoyed it, but I'd like to add 1983's CASABLANCA, with David Soul playing Humphrey Bogart's character, Rick Blaine, to this list. Looking around the Internet, I see the show roundly labeled as something of an atrocity, but I didn't think it was all that bad. David Soul was no Bogart, but if you could get around that the cast did a pretty good job, and at least they got the ambiance right. Sure, I love the movie, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to have more stories about Rick Blaine and the other characters. Short of resurrecting Bogie, how else are you going to do it but find a replacement who will invariably pale in comparison? Most critics savaged the short-lived show, many before they had ever seen it, but I did find one reviewer who thought it was above average: Fred Rothenberg. Only five episodes were made, as a trial run to see if the ratings would be high enough to bring it back as a series in 1984, but the network cancelled it after only three episodes were shown. I'd like to see it released to DVD someday, but I doubt half a dozen people would actually buy it--based on its sour reputation.

Although, you had All in the Family which was controversial enough. I dunno. I'd love to hear from the creative forces behind the show and get some insight.
