Dec 8 07 9:12 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Many of you have seen this famous clip before, of a supposed Bigfoot creature caught on film in 1967 at Bluff Creek (CA?) by a man named Roger Patterson. Someone here (who is it?) even has a snippet of the clip as their avatar. My question is simple; Patterson Bigfoot Clip/Real or Fake? Dec 8 07 1:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It's funny, this film has been the subject of much contoversy over the years with experts on zooology, scientists, laymen, etc. weighing in with various opinions on the authenticity of this footage. There have been many stories of persons who claim to have created a fancy suit that might stand up to scientific scrutiny and none of which have ever been proved to be true. When studies were made by experts on primates, regarding the figure in the film's gait, they concluded that it was not possible for a man wearing a costume to be lumbering in such a fashion. After 40 years, no one has ever been able to prove that this film was a hoax and not footage of a real creature, unlike other films supposedly showing Sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster...

Apr 8 08 12:30 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I remember seeing a show about the guy who supposedly originated the hoax, he created the wooden soles that were used to make the footprints and according to him the creature seen in the film was actually his wife in a specially created costume (replete with breasts!). The guy admitted all this as he was dying, so there's not much motivation to carry on with the thing. As for myself, I really don't think a creature (or creatures) could go undetected for so long in this shrinking world of ours. As for the Patterson film, Yes. I believe there is such a film of Ingemar Johannsen knocking out Floyd Patterson, then one of Floyd knocking out Ingemar. But that's about it.

Make up and suits came no where near this creaature on film--look at Lost in Space-Outer Limits- Star Trek-etc from near the same era. And, that it is female. There have been new studies of first gen PGF footage. Most professional people with analytical capabilities say that PGF is real. Only after Hairy and the Hendersons came out did a suit work. Go to you tube to find all the fakes you want. There are people that don't believe man walked on the moon. Go to BFRO.Net and read everything you can... Then check out Bigfoot Encounters and Squatchmarks on the web. BF is rare and most people having a sighting are Post Traumatic Stressed and rarely report it for fear of ridicule. (Oh, You watch Monster movies? Why don't you grow up!--Oh, you saw a bigfoot? Was the Easter Bunny with you?) Examples only. A LEGEND IN MY OWN MIND.... ..AND ONE IN YOURS SOON ENOUGH!!!!

Apr 20 08 1:34 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Ray Wallace, long aknowldeged hoaxer of the wooded feet, claimed either that it was wife, or that he knew "exactly witch old indian it was in that suit" and variations on the theme that he hoaxed Patterson and Gimmlin. The problem is the Patty Bigfoot looke nothing like known photos Wallace took of his wife in their extremly obvious fake fur suit (With pointy CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF ears!). And at least two seperate large men witha similar gait have come to light in the last dozen years claiming to be the guy in the suit.... hmmmm. I had pretty much given up on Bigfoot myself, but reading SASQUATCH: LEGEND MEETS SCIENCE several months ago renwed my optomism that just maybe.... I had no idea the track evidence was so expansive and compeling. And it does sort of make sense that if there was a surving ancient homonid, the very reason it did survive is that it became very, very adept at avoiding homo sapiens. I get a little stressed and frustrated at skeptics who absolutly refuse to even consider the evidence untill there is a body. Maybe the last bigfoot died off just a few years ago, it's bones were scattered to the winds, and we will never know. I do wish the poll had a third option. The Paterson photo certainly looked to me to show a real, natural creature, but untill I see one for myself I'll remain guarded. -Clark

It really bothers me, but I have to conclude the Patterson film is a fake. I'd really love it to be otherwise! It would be awesome if ~8-foot-tall monsters were roaming the U.S. But that don't make it so. Mad-Monsters.Com

The fact that Patterson was a carny who was already hawking a book on the subject then embarked, with much fanfare, on a Bigfoot hunting expedition and found one the first or second day out, pretty much says it all for me. Oct 31 08 2:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I know this - calling it a hoax is one thing, and calling it an "obvious hoax" is another. Even some of the biggest disbelievers hesitate to do that. And when people go farther and claim they've actually unravelled the hoax, they're often embarrassed afterwards, as with that John Chambers business some time ago. As I said in the "Flatwoods Monster" thread, I have an incredibly prejudiced attitude towards these things. If the story is gruesome or depressing, I'm glad to hear it "debunked," and I latch right onto the explanation. If it isn't (as with Patterson, and Bigfoot in general), I want it to go on and on, whether it's true or not. I know this attitude is supposedly an insult to the "Cause of Science," and common sense in general, and so on, but it doesn't bother me a bit.
