It was a horror movie host staple with often repeats but not sure if it was because of the accessibility or because of popularity? For me it rambled on, the monster wasn't very convincing but the people plastered to the wall was creepy, and the ending was extremely abrupt like someone just realized they were out of time and/or budget? Nov 26 07 6:37 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	the creature was based on a real life insect called a "hanging fly"...it was portayed by actor Chris Robinson who later became a recognizable face in many tv series and films. I always thought it was odd that a spider type creature would trudge miles thru snow...aren't arachnids sensitive to cold temps? The sound efx the creature made were recycled from EARTH VS THE SPIDER...the Alexander Laszlo music score was recycled from GIANT LEECHES and NIGHT OF THE BLOOD BEAST. Michael Forest went on to achieve fame as "Apollo" from STAR TREK "Who Mourns For Adonis?" episode.

Nov 26 07 7:23 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The plot was recycled from THUNDER OVER HAWAII/NAKED PARADISE, only with a snowy setting rather than Hawaii, and a monster added. The same plot was used again in a tropical setting for CREATURE FROM THE HAUNTED SEA, also with a monster, but now it was a comedy. In the late 1960s, Chris Robinson used to turn up at Forry's place occasionally, but I haven't seen him in years. I don't think the monster was supposed to be a spider, but a weird unidientified thing something like a spider. I think it's one of the more interesting monsters of the 1950s. This was made back-to-back with SKI TROOP ATTACK.

Nov 26 07 10:08 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I saw this as a double feature with whatever.....And I'm sure I glazed over the gangsters & molls subplot, for want of monsters. Curiously, the one thing that has stuck with me all theses years were the victims. Upsettingly cocooned. Were they still alive ? Did they look like the guy in EARTH Vs. THE SPIDER ? Haven't seen this one in a long while. I just don't remember. "You can't smell any reefer, can you"?

Nov 27 07 7:14 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It's not a patch on its official co-feature WASP WOMAN but I'm very fond of this movie for all its cheapness. Charles Griffith really came through for Corman providing some offbeat, cynical characters and above-par dialogue. On a whole, it's far more interesting than many more slickly-done Hollywood studio B science fiction movies; at least it delivers some genuine chills as those frame grabs show (I believe the trailer shows an alternate take of the girl in the web). But I agree that's one terribly abrupt ending with the hero barely managing to get a clinch from his gal. Too bad Shelia Carol didn't get more work. Too bad, too, that Tom Weaver never tracked her down for an interview.

From the screen capture that Eric posted, I call that a good thing. There's a Ramsey Campbell story called "The Interloper" with a similar situation. If I remember correctly, the main character is poking around in the bowels of a university building and finds cocooned victims in alcoves, waiting to be finished off by a monster. Ramsey sure seems to be a Monster Kid, so I can't help but think BFHC may have inspired the story.
