On a day-to-day basis, this is my favorite forum in my favorite web-spot. Thank you for all the great opinions and information, for reminding me of movies I enjoyed or didn't, movies I need to see again, or need to avoid re-visiting, and for telling me about movies (a few, at least) that were new and unknown to me. Here's to ten more years (for a start) of Movie of the Day. Congratulations, Dave.

Aug 12 11 8:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Thanks, Rick! Actually, I just realized I'm one day off; tomorrow is officially the tenth anniversary, but I might as well start early. To begin with, I feel the need to thank a lot of people who have helped in one way or another with the project. Most obviously, I wish to thank the moderators of the three websites that have hosted the MOTDs over the years; Greg Luce at Sinister Cinema, Gerry Carpenter at Scifilm.org, and especially to the three moderators here; David Colton, Gary Prange and Kerry Gammill (and I hope I've spelled your names correctly). Then I wish to thank all of the people who have been kind enough to help me find many of the rarer movies I've covered in the last ten years. There are really too many to mention, but two that come to mind immediately are Doctor Kiss (who has also made invaluable contributions to the "Ones that got away" thread), and the late Tim Murphy. I truly am grateful to all of you. And then, of course, there are those of you have visited the forum and commented; if no one read it, it wouldn't be worth doing. Here I want to make special mention of the people who have followed it from the very beginning, such as Steve Joyce, Andrew Kidd, evilskippy, Bill Warren, Tom Weaver and Ted Newsom. I have special thanks for Bill, as he as often taken the time to correct me on some of my grammatical errors; let's hope I reach the point where he doesn't have to anymore. Aug 12 11 8:29 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Now is also a good time to give an update on some of the developments that will shortly be taking place with the MOTDs. For ten years, I have posted a movie review daily; I haven't always posted them on time, but I did post them. There were only two days that I didn't post a revew; one was the day after 9/11, and the other was on the day I found out that Tim Murphy had died. These two events were both important enough for different reasons to make exceptions to the routine. However, the only reason I was able to consistently keep them going was that I had a five-month backlog before I even began posting the movies. There were days where I could not find a movie to watch, but it didn't matter, because I had plenty of extra ones to post. However, ten years down the line, that backlog has shrunk enormously; I now have about two weeks left, and once they're used up, the MOTD project will go into real time. What this means is that there will be some days where I won't have a movie to watch, so there will be no new review on those days. In these cases, I will add to the "Ones that got away" list in lieu of a movie review. Hopefully, this will only be a fraction of the time. Also, since we will be in real time, occasionally I may be a day or two late with a review; when you work all day and have a rehearsal at night, sometimes you just don't have time to fit a full movie in. Still, I plan to continue the project, and I hope to be around to celebrate my twentieth anniversary of the MOTDs! Heaven knows there's still a wealth of stuff I haven't seen yet. ********************************************************* Let the puppy go!

Thanks for chiming in, Donald, because it just reminded me that I have one other group of people to thank, and that's the writers and researchers who have produced all the reference books that I have culled in coming up with my hunt list for genre movies; it was the existence of these sources, with all of those movies that I hadn't seen yet, that made me want to go ahead with the project in the first place. ********************************************************* Let the puppy go!

I certainly can't pretend to have watched a lesser number of fims than you over the past decade... but I do look back and wish I'd written something of substance about each film immediately after watching it... if only to be able to remember what some of them were about at all! It really takes a colossal amount of organization and stamina to do that, though, and keeping it up for ten years is nothing short of remarkable. Here's to the next decade!

Originally, there were about 90 movies I hadn't seen, but I've whittled that down to 65. The rest of your reviews are also useful for making decisions for what goes on my own want lists and what doesn't. I find your reviews extremely helpful & reliable. You've also given me new perspectives on some movies that I hadn't appreciated before. The nice thing about your reviews--and what I mean by your reviews being so reliable--is that even if I've previously held a different opinion, I always understand and appreciate yours, even when I still hold onto my own. The site is currently inaccessible, and at this point of time, I don't know how much effort and time it will take to bring it back up. If it turns out to be too difficult to resurrect, I may add a bunch of my old reviews to this forum here, just so they're someplace online for those who want to see them. I'll mark them in some way so you'll know it's an old review; some of my early ones I'd rewrite nowadays, but I'd have to watch the movie again for that, and I'm not sure I'll have the time. More news when I have it. Oh, Benson, dear Benson, you are so mercifully free from the ravages of intelligence!
