I see a lot of Pertwee influence in Russel T Davies writing. I don't mind Colin, but his story is tragic...his Doctor wasn't given a chance to reach it's full potential (not to mention a few poor creative choices that wern't his), and he's tried very much to develop it more in the last decade through the audios. Aug 25 09 5:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Gotta go with Tom Baker- followed closely by Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton- I maybe a blasphemer....while I like the new Dr Who , I don't enjoy it as much as the classic Who. I think the newer stories have a kind of "everything but the kitchen sink" storytelling- kind of sappy at times-very flash cut short attention span cliche ridden with an extremely hyperactive Doctor who can be really annoying. Give me a grim Phillip Hinchcliffe horror tinged episode of Tom Baker or 7 part well paced John Pertwee anyday.

I can't disagree with any of that, sutekh66. My favorite will always be Patrick Troughton. I liked Tom Baker too but it appears I'm the only one that also liked Sylvester McCoy.

Mar 24 10 5:19 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm also a huuuuge fan of the 6th Doctor. I was still very much the target audience (pre-teen with above average smarts.), and still I recognized season 22 (Well, and 21's CAVES OF ANDROZANI.) as marking a huge improvement on the show's over all fun-factor. It's odd, but just as JNT seemed to be becoming self-confident enough to add humor back into the show's mix, along came Micheal Grade, and the show suddenly took a nose dive into light entertainment pap. C. Baker deserved so much better. And, if you haven't started to listen to 'em already, C. Baker and the 6th Doctor are absolutely stellar on the Big Finish Audio Plays. -Clark

Apr 25 10 6:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	i loved tom baker the most!.his episodes take me back to a time before VCR's,dvr's or DVDs,i would wait an entire week to view one episode on the Detroit PBS channel,the theme music during bakers era was superb! it was an exciting wonderful journey into British TV sci-fi!! i loved t and i always will, the baker episodes always featured beautiful british girls, and great monsters,until next time-always around-count wimpula

Aug 24 10 2:44 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I really liked Colin Baker as well (I spent a few years on RADW defending him) although I usually name Jon Pertwee as my fave. One thing about Colin's Doctor that I thought was interesting is that - to me at least - he is the first one who really needed his companion for the most part (without Peri prodding him he'd probably never really gotten his act together) and it created an interesting dynamic for the series. I do like all of the Doctors though; there are things to recommend about any of the eras.

Jul 22 12 1:48 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	William Fluff Hartnell - probably my favourite, though not a fan of the historical/costumer stories. Favourite stories "The Chase" and "Edge of Destruction" Patrick Troughton - very good Doctor with a good dose of humour. Favourite stories "War Games" and "Mind Robber" Jon Pertwee - grew up with his episodes, and despite a career in comedy up to that point, did very well at dramatic acting. Favourite stories "3 Doctors" and "Planet of the Daleks" Tom Baker - still can't really get into Tom's performance. Always came across as mocking the role/series Peter Davison - only seen him in "The 5 Doctors" and did very well Colin Baker - disliked his performance as the doctor. Always seemed very nasty and very bad tempered Sylvester McCoy - the worst. BBC should have added a laugh track to his stories Paul McGann - only seen his single film once, on it's BBC premier. So-So film, can't recall his performance Christopher Eccleston - acceptable, can't really say anymore about him David Tennant - pretty good Matt Smith - can't get into his episodes at all Peter Cushing - good comic performance, which he repeated to equally good effect in "At the Earths Core"

The production team for his Doctor is just poor and the storylines are so muddled that nothing makes sense and when it does, it then gets erased so it never happened anyway in the majority of the plots. I cant wait for Steven Moffat to move on.

True he had only the one film, but the novels, comics, and audio-books (which do star McGann) are wonderful. I have all the novels except one on the 8th Doctor. Never found Vampire Science at a price I could afford... Abandon hope all ye who enter here....

Something about his manic almost bi-polar way of confronting bad guys and dangerous situations really glommed on me. Also I was very fond of Zoe and Jamie, who with the exception of Sarah Jane (who is the absolute pinnacle of favorite), were my favorites. AND the stories, though sometimes repetitive, were really great, pulpy and sometimes Lovecraftian sorts of tales. For a long time I was NOT a Pertwee fan as I disagreed with how they handled the character being stuck on Earth and I thought he had a snotty/snobby attitude. But since becoming more of a Quatermass fan in the last quarter century, I've come to appreciate the more Knealian type qualities of his tenure. I like Matt Smith because he reminds me some of Troughton. -Shonokin The Pulp Reader
