I've watched this a few times over the past week, and I absolutely love the performances from Boris, Peter, Maxie, and Maude Eburne.
At the same time though I can't help that had the script been a bit better it would have been one of the comedy greats, but as is turns out to be more enjoyable for the performances and the dark humor.
Larry Parks overacts in pretty much every scene and almost kills the film at times, but it almost comes across as intentional. Either Karloff and Lorre were allowed to improvise with Parks overacting, or the script was actually written with the intent of him overacting, as the scene when Lorre first finds out about the bodies and he and Karloff are heading back up the stairs. Parks gets REAL loud and animated and almost seems to throw Lorre off, wo which Lorre tells him to not get so excited.
Anybody know much about the filming of this movie?
