May 19 06 11:15 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Sorry for the short notice, but I just noticed that AMC will be showing Irwin Allen's 1960 remake of THE LOST WORLD, in about an hour and twenty minutes. (1:30 AM edt, Friday night/Sat.Morning). Not a very good film overall, as I recall, but it does feature Michael Rennie and Claude Rains, and I can't recall the last time I saw this one popping up on TV -- or anywhere else for that matter. ------------- "After all, it is better to be frightened than to be crushed."

It was apparently uncut but fullscreen, but since I've never seen it in Cinemascope I can't say I was disappointed. The bad news is that right afterwards AMC ran THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN OF THE HIMALAYAS. Why is that bad? Because they evidently forgot to revert to the full-screen version and apparently ran the scope version. Perhaps the ghost of Val Guest was looking out for his own from beyond......

May 20 06 3:26 PM Burgomaster Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I caught THE LOST WORLD last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. I had't seen it in many years and it was much better than I remembered. The picture looked great except for being full screen. Good juvenile prehistoric fun. The only thing that was too silly to forgive was Rains referring to the modern day lizards with horns and fins as specific species like "Brontosaurus" and Tyranosaurus Rex".
