Feb 13 09 7:30 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Having just watched the March version last night on TCM, I couldn't help but notice that the "I'm Jekyll!" line was missing from the soundtrack. Was this line ever restored to the dvd version, or is it still M.I.A.?

Feb 13 09 10:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Having been a Famous Monsters fan growing up I always saw stills of the 1931 DRMH. I always wanted to see it but generally what was shown on TV locally was the Universal stuff which I love. It wasn't until yesterday that I saw 1931 version after I DVR'd off TCM. I feel embarrassed not having seen this before!! I have to say I was blown away at how good this movie is. The effects, the camera work, the acting, everything was great. I am sorry I had not seen this earlier. I always meant to but for some reason never did. So is there a definitive DVD version of this movie that can be recommended? "I saw what I saw when I saw it!"

BY JULIANNA PALAZZOLO It didn't mention HYDE or TEMPLE DRAKE, but it did contain the unknown (to me at least) bit that Hopkin's adopted son Michael died October 5th, 2010 at 78. Miriam's on the cover (a Nickolas Murry photo), a cover from Vogue with her on it, and a headshot from 1932.

Don't feel bad Dracsback, it took me a while to see it too. It still stands up and actually surpasses the Universals in many ways, I think. I had seen the Tracy version way back in the day but had only seen pictures of the March version in horror books and stuff. For some reason, March reminds me of Colin Clive a bit in this. His performance is really good and it's no wonder he won the Academy Award for it. A true classic.

I have to give a nod to the Tracy version for featuring BOTH Ingrid Bergman and Lana Turner ... and I have to say the dream sequence with Lana and Ingrid harnessed to Tracy's chariot and being lashed by him is borderline S & M and a bit disturbing! But you're right , the March version is superior because of March, Hopkins, and Mamoulian. All three were fantastic. However, the Barrymore version is still one of my favorite silents and Jack is fantastic in the role (s).
