A character in numerous films, from 20th Century Fox's THE LOVES OF EDGAR ALLAN POE (Sheppard Strudwick) to Antonio Margheriti's WEB OF THE SPIDER (Klaus Kinski). He was physically collected by a fan in TORTURE GARDEN, and his tales have informed the works of many a filmmaker, from Jean Epstein to Edgar G. Ulmer, from Dwain Esper to Jules Dassin, from Roger Corman to Federico Fellini to Fred Olen Ray. Not to mention many an author from Stephen King to Brother Theodore. Read a Poe story today -- or better yet, tonight.

Jan 22 05 12:20 PM Burgomaster Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The other night the Fox Movie Channel ran the 1942 movie, THE LOVES OF EDGAR ALLAN POE. I had never even heard of this film before. It was interesting to see a film on Poe that mentioned so little about his horror stories. It mostly focused on his two romantic relationships and his struggle for better copyright protection for authors. *Count Gamula*

Jan 22 05 5:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	THE LOVES OF EDGAR ALLAN POE was made at Fox in 1942. I thought I was onto something, but unfortunately for my little theory, Roger Corman did not start working as a story analyst at Fox until 1949. It would have been cool if I could have established the slightest possibility that his endorsement for this script, as a reader, had somehow helped to push it through. Alas, twas never thus.
