Sep 25 05 7:58 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This was an interesting thread on the old boards, so I thought I'd bring it up again. What books (horror or non-horror) are you currently reading? I'm almost finished with "Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse", Phyllis Diller's autobiography. Very personal but not very detailed, and she comes across as very, very angry. Still, I've always been a fan of hers, so it was a must-read. Anyone else? DOCTOR 13

Sep 25 05 9:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Wow, I used to read all the time but I've really slacked off. The last books I read were "Shane" and the first half of "Hearts In Atlantis." Also Paul Sammon's "Future Noir:The Making Of 'Blade Runner'" and "Barney Fife And Other Characters I Have Known" by Don Knotts. Legend, oh legend, the third wheel legend...always in the way.

And just started WILL IN THE WORLD (Will Shakespeare, that is.) THE BOOK OF RENFIELD is waiting for me, but I don't want it to share time with anything else, so it'll have to wait till WILL has had its way.

Oct 2 05 5:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Somehow, L. B. now has more paperbacks on my bookshelf than any other author. I don't even know how it happened. I don't await his latest and don't even know the full exent of his work. But every time I see a different Block book in the store, I end up buying it (esp. Mathew Scudder stories!). The count of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert Heinlein from my earlier days is now surpased. Somehow, I guess I am a closet Block Head!!! Steve Joyce

It's a very interesting look at power women in Hollywood, how they got there, how they're treated, what they've done. At work I'm reading "Tyrannosaur Canyon" by Douglas Preston. Don't know where it's leading just yet but it makes use of Preston's knowledge of the Southwest, something put to good use in his book "Thunderhead" written with partner Lincoln Child. I'm also reading a book on the history of art exhibits -- when they started, what they were like in bygone days, how they came to be, and the evolution that finally led to museums and institutional collections. Sorry, don't remember the name. As usual with this type of book, the information conveyed goes beyond the main focus. Thumbed through "Fantastic," the new book on Arnold Schwarzenegger but couldn't get involved aside from reading tidbits here and there about his films. There's a new book on Louis B. Mayer that's calling my name, too. A Peggy Lipton autobiography awaits as well. There's a P.N. Elrod book that's part of her "Vampire Chronicles" series I might crack open if only to see how her writing style has evolved since the first book. Her first book, although set in the 1930s, lacked any description.
