This thread caused me to do a bit of research.

I found an 80 minute interview with Dr Robert McClelland of Parkland on youtube, one of the physicians who attended JFK after he was shot. The interview includes of course some interesting details of what it was like and of Jackie, etc.

Concerning the assassination and plots and all, the most interesting bit is a description of the wound from Dr McClelland, who was standing behind the president's head and says he had a clear and unobstructed view of the wound for several minutes while another physician, Dr Perry, was working on the president. Dr McClelland says that the physicians knew it was hopeless from the beginning but trying to save patients is what ER physicians do.

McClelland describes a five inch hole in the back of the skull with cerebellum oozing out. He specifically states he thought then and now it had to be an exit wound and that the fatal shot had to have come from the front.

For me, such testimony simply blows away any speculation about Oswald's character or facial expressions and the like, or for that matter arguments about whether Oswald could have done it alone.

How do we really explain such a well-trained physician supposedly confusing the back with the front of the skull, and supposedly not knowing what the cerebellum looks like.

*a second issue I read up about was the Harper Fragment. Wm Harper found a piece of skull near where the president was shot on November 23, the next day. He took it to Methodist Hospital where his father was on staff. His father gave it to three hospital neurosurgeons, who identified it as part of an occipital bone. This bone was turned over to the FBI. The Warren Commission identified this bone as a parietal bone from the top of the skull. There is no way to pin this down now. The bone is gone. Disappeared. All that exists now are photos of a bone, which might be or might not be the one found.

And all we are left with is that the three physicians who without doubt saw the actual bone identified it as an occipital bone, which is totally consistent with McClelland's testimony.
