Oswald was a self-proclaimed "Marxist" who supposedly didn't have much to say
either way in regards to Kennedy. Being a Cuban sympathizer, I'm sure he didn't
appreciate the neoliberal agenda that was the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile
Crisis. Just another guy who thought taking out the symbol of neoliberalism would
balance the scales. Very naive. You can tell so in the final reels of him in custody,
he appears surprised with his situation, as if he thought more would be in his camp.
I don't think it reveals abandonment by another party or his "sponsors". If he was,
he was meant to be used and tossed, like any good toady.

One thing to admire Kennedy for was that he wrote his own speeches. Just got finished
with his Thanksgiving Address which was finished Nov 4, 1963. Kennedy was a windbag,
but his heart was in the right place, however "middling" his unfinished term was.

On another note, we've had "The First Family" LP in our family since it was released.
I've read elsewhere it had long been out of print and that Meader's career tanked that
very day. Even Lenny Bruce supposedly went onstage that night and began his routine
with, "Well, Vaughn Meader is screwed." But, whatever happened to Naomi Brossart,
"Jackie"? Can't find anything on her. All brilliant and Earl Doud&Co returned years later
to lampoon Reagan. Odd how every 20 years bad luck befalls a president. Probably bad
luck for YOU if Doud released a record during your term!

Not sure the first time I gave "The First Family" a spin, but I was hooked simply because
of the wild audience reaction. I'm sure there's some doodling there in the editing room, but
it's infectious. Finally got many of the jokes years later. Didn't know 'til yesterday that the
night they taped it in front of a live audience was THE night of Kennedy's national address
acknowledging the Missile Crisis. The actors were in a panic and prayed the audience had
no wind of it or else the LP would've never happened. Thank goodness they went home to
find out later. What a night that must have been for them.

Here's my favorite bit from "The First Family", "Bedtime Story" closes the album. Skip to 1:20.

Kennedy's reaction to the LP:

A Fine is a tax when you do wrong.
A Tax is a fine when you do well.
