Tom, I don't rehash that event either. It helps I was all of 2 1/2 mos old when it happened.
Whatever his politics were, however checkered the family history and his personal failings,
he didn't deserve that. Nov 22nd '63 was the 9/11 of its day. We've had plenty of shocks
since then but that must've hit all sensitive people in the gut. The "Catholic President" became
the "Fallen President". Just came out of nowhere. Often wondered who saw Oswald at that
window, fingered him and what happened to him / her. Who was the "Umbrella Guy".
Theories are just that. I'm just glad Jackie didn't live through 9/11 or the death of John Jr;
she'd been through more than her share of violence.

Would love to get me mitts on a copy of that Daily News ... would bring back some old
memories and look in disbelief at all those prices.
I'll tip my bias, first, by saying that no one saw Oswald at that window because he was not at that window.  Further bias--I don't think anyone was at that window.  It was empty there, waiting to be filled by shells picked up elsewhere by Homicide Captain Fritz, & by witnesses encouraged to resituate the shooter to the 6th floor.  An odd comic note that day was provided by the 12:45 apb which gave the suspect's height & weight, statistics dubiously gleaned from ground level.  The window was not only 6 floors up but half-closed, or given the fact that these were casement windows only the bottom half of which could be opened, 3/4 closed.  The only one who could have provided such a description was Superman, & to my knowledge he was not in Dallas at that time....

Some years later, I could vote for President for the first time, & the candidate I voted for (another Kennedy) was shot dead that same night....In his book "Miami & the Siege of Chicago", Norman Mailer summed up our dismay well.smiley: frown
