I've had very little nostalgic feeling for this event since it became common knowledge that JFK's criminal bootlegging father, Joe Kennedy, bought the 1960 election by purchasing Illinois and West Virginia which stole the election from Richard Nixon and put JFK in the White House. And JFK's friends have said that he openly laughed and joked about how the election was stolen. That his father had chided him to only buy the votes that were necessary to win because he didn't want to have to pay for an "F'ing landslide." Considering that I would have to say that this date makes me think about poetic irony more than anything else.
