Not only were new scenes added for tv, some original scenes were removed. The very first time I ever saw this movie was on Svengoolie's show in Chicago, back sometime in the late 70s or early 80s, long before he was nation-wide. In his introduction, Sven said he was showing a new special hybrid edit put together by his staff, combining ALL footage from both the original Hammer theatrical version and the tv version. Never having seen it before, I didn't know what was original footage and what was tv version, all I knew was I didn't like the movie that much. Subsequent viewings of both versions have elucidated the differences for me; the original version is superior, of course, but I still don't particularly care for it.

What Sven did back then was interesting in concept but not all that interesting in execution... I wonder if he'll show his hybrid cut again this week? I doubt it.

Even though I'm not particularly fond of Evil of Frankenstein, I am fond of Sven. So my daughter and I will be watching, and we'll be with you chat room mugs in spirit.
