Because everybody owns everything, right?

That's a major reason why this case is so important - cut and paste makes internet thievery so easy nowadays. It almost makes writers who's work has been plagiarized long for the days of Cliff Notes! (at least those lazy students actually had to re-type the words)

Twenty years from now, Napster and it's "file-sharing" revolution may be looked upon to be one of the most important changes in society - stealing has become a "given" and "acceptable" to a generation of young people. A study just came out within the last week or so that even with all the legal means to watch TV and movies online, the percentage of thievery hasn't really changed. Way too many people have gotten used to the idea, as Craig said, that "everybody owns everything."

As to Lianne. I also echo Craig in his line about "distributors," in this case concerning Video Watchdog. Remember, they were THE most vociferous defenders of Lianne when this began. So, to now just try to sweep the whole story under the rug with a runty 6 paragraph editorial buried within a monthly column strikes me as too little. Sorry. And, VW also seems to fail to see that THEY are being harmed as much as Lianne in the eyes of many. Trust me, if someone I hired caused my reputation to take a hit, took my hard-earned dollars and lied to me about it - I'd have a lot more choice words to say about the thief. A LOT MORE.
