I've wondered if a Frankenstein cable series might work along the lines of The Fugitive or Kung Fu in the sense of having the monster searching for his humanity in his encounters with humans, perhaps with his creator pursuing him. The following week it might be the Wolf Man searching for a cure or his own death. The next week it is a reincarnated Kharis searching for his Ananka. Dracula would be searching, well, for more blood with Van Helsing in pursuit. This would sort of work like the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie that rotated McCloud, McMillan & Wife, Columbo and Hec Ramsey.

Somehow I just can't picture the Frankenstein monster as a kung fu fighter or on an endless search for a one-armed man who killed his bride. Now pulling a man's arm off, that I can believe. But, haven't we been there, done that, with Dick Briefer's FRANKENSTEIN comic book? A Wolf Man series would probably last about 1 season, if FOX's werewolf series back in 87/88 was any indication. Kharis, now that would be a fast moving show. Maybe after a full season Kharis would finally catch up to that station wagon. DRACULA is scheduled to star in a new 2013 TV SHOW and I believe there have already been episodes filmed. However, I don't think he has the UNIVERSAL look or follows the UNIVERSAL story formula. If that fails I believe he would be down for the count, pun intended.

Frankly, the iconic UNIVERSAL monsters have been so Munstertized and Mel Brooked over the years that they have lost any fright power that they once had. No one gives a damn about introspective monsters anymore, even the SILVER SURFER has lost his fan base. The only people that would get a thrill out of what you suggest are the die hard monster kids who support this board and others like it, and sadly, we are just not enough to warrant a tv series or a series of films.
