The thing that bothers me the most is what she did after it all came to light. i know no one likes to be put in the spotlight when that spotlight is showing off something bad that you did. But the true measure of a person is what they do when it is revealed. First she kind of beat around the bush, saying a statement was coming. OK - I thought she wanted to take time to come clean about everything she did, with public apologies to those writes she took from and the magazines, websites, etc, that believed that what she said she wrote was all her own words and thoughts.

When the apology came it was pretty short, but at least was honest. She had plagiarized, was sorry, and was leaving journalism for awhile. I would have liked it to be more, and I had to wonder why at first she had to take time to write something so short. but, hey, she came clean. I also wondered why it was only just a tweet. no mention on her Facebook page or her website. well, I figured, it would be added there in short time.

Then she buried her tweet by re-tweeting other previous generic tweets. It felt like she was trying to hide it. Still no word on her Facebook page or Website. Then as more examples came out, including at least 3 examples of it on her Fright Bytes videos, she did things completely changed her Twitter account. She got rid of thousands of tweet and replaced them with about 30 generic ones - mainly re-tweets from celebrities. Her apology was now gone for good. Then her Facebook page disappeared completely. then her website. Then her new Twitter account went bye-bye.

I know it can't be easy to face the slings and arrows and nasty comments. But she did bring this on herself. I feel, in my humble opinion, that she needs to face up to it and if she has won any awards, like the Rondo, she needs to give them back. I think it is quite clear she has taken others words and used them as her own, including her Fright Bytes videos, which won a Rondo (well, not the individual videos themselves, but the site).

I can't see her book being published at all now. How are they gonna publicize it? I'm sure they would have used things similar to her official bio - "She's an acclaimed writer for magazines like Famous Monsters, Video Watchdog, etc, etc." Can't call her a "writer" now. They could change it to an "interviewer," which I understand is the bulk of the book anyway. But that makes the publisher look rather foolish - having to hide the fact that as a writer she plagiarized things. Are they gonna send her out on book tours and to sign autographs? I doubt it because they have to know this subject is going to come out. So I think her book just won't be released.

Maybe she has suffered enough. Publicly "outed." A book deal most likely gone kaput. Probably no more Fright Bytes videos. No more writing for magazines. But I really think she needed to just apologize and keep apologizing and fess up to all she did. Say what you will about Paula Deen, but at least she was honest about it. Yep, she had used "that word," over 10 years ago. She didn't lie about it. she was honest. She said she heard that word growing up. She was sorry for it, and apologized. She lost a lot. But I do respect her for at least coming clean and not hiding it.

OK. That's my 2 cents worth.
