I'm not aware of the years-old thread you're referring to. The claims & counterclaims (so to speak) by contributors past & present, as well as by Alexander & Michael Gingold, have all been written within the last 3 days or so. 

And lest anyone be mistaken, I'm not trying to defame Fangoria in any way. Under Alexander, it's improved almost immeasurably over the previous few years (which are all I'm familiar with; with the exception of an earlyish issue with a Lovecraft-themed cover, I never bought a single ish till probably no earlier than 2003). I'm just baffled at the notion that contributors to a slick newsstand mag might not be receiving compensation ... whether they are or aren't isn't for me to say, but at least a couple of them are saying that that's the case even as I type, pretty much.

It's entirely possible, of course, that I'm merely naive. Given how cynical I regard myself as being, that would be sort of refreshing, in a way.
