I know I had seen this when I was a teenager and it was on HBO in about 81-82, but had no memory of it. Just watched it on DVD and it has/had me hankering for a whole slew of films where George C. Scott takes on the Supernatural. Great story, and watching this with the headphones on, great sound design.

Just love the idea of Scott, who seems so up against type, facing the supernatural. Melvyn Douglas' character was good, as well, and I kinda felt sorry for him, in a way, as outside of personal revelation through the years, was any of it really his doing?

Of course, The Haunting comes to mind while watching this, with that big empty house and all those corridors.

Also, sitting here, trying to figure out why this was rated 'R'; certainly would be PG13 today....
