I will shout it from the rooftops, I love Deanna Durbin pictures.  I think I've seen about half of her pictures, and I've enjoyed every one. The Cinevent film festival in Columbus has seemingly made a point over the last few years to show one of Deanna's movies, and it was fantastic getting the chance to enjoy them, projected, with an appreciative audience.

Thank you, Ms. Durbin, for giving us movies that let the audience leave feeling happier than when they went in.

R.I.P.

By the way, here is a link to what is, apparently, the only interview Durbin ever gave during her long and private retirement. It was with author David Shipman in 1983, and is reproduced on a classic film blog called Java's Journey. My favorite line from Shipman is where he says, "when you've been smiled at by Deanna Durbin you stay smiled at."
