Not sure what motivates the programming choices at KOFY - beyond the usual money, money and MONEY. Also, it's difficult enough for anyone to follow a show with a screeching biker bar atmosphere like Creepy KOFY. Coming in the wake Creepy, Elvira was like a visit to a quaint old maiden auntie's. Svengoolie was too gentle and goofy to carry over that audience as well. And the film's he initially presented - the classic Universal SHOCK package - was horribly out-of-synch to the public domain and sleazy Euro-horror the lead-in show presented. It was probably this that led to KOFY swapping the newer Svengoolie shows for the older Sven's they were broadcasting on the 20.2 MeTV sub-channel. The more drive-in flavored movies on the older show fit better with Creepy - the Universal's were much too classy - but at the end of the day....you were at the end of the day. It's tough to hold an audience at 1 a.m. - particularly with a hosted horror double bill.

Happily, the Universal movies continue to b hosted by Sven on the MeTV 20.2 channel.

But I'm with you, I'm one of those nuts who loved seeing the old Svens. Set up the DV-R...perfect Sunday afternoon entertainment.
