Once I got into silent serials I realized that yes, it's true, the silent era was the real golden age of serials. There was money spent on sets, lighting and effects and time spent on making them interesting (plots, scripts, atmosphere).  Of American silents that have a almost complete existence I'd put TOTO at the top.  I can only imagine possibly Mysteries of Myra being better, if all or most of the footage was ever found.

I think that Exploits of Elaine if it ever showed up digitally in its entirety (and yes, it's pretty much all out there) could actually give Octopus a run for its money.
I've been campaigning for ages on E of E but still to no avail...

Also, there's a serial called The Sky Ranger which is extant (Belgium, I think) that - hope against hope - we all get to see someday. Two scientists..one good, one evil. One has a prototype laser and the other a prototype jet/rocket.

But, that's nitpicking. Octopus is the bee's knees.

...it follows me!  It isn't this house alone, but in my office, the street; anywhere.  At times I have the uncanniest feeling that there is someone behind me.  I can feel their presence, almost hear their breathing, yet when I turn around there is no one.  In my room at night I have heard footsteps approach my bed.  I could swear there was someone there.  I've struggled to see something, anything; but if I did, I know I should go mad.
