Nimoy is a fine actor. I find, however, that the character he was given had some pretty huge problems. His main character traits seem to be that he is emotionless and stoic at all times. That just doesn't create a character than interests me very much.

I met Nimoy back in the early '70s, and spoke with him for quite a while. He's a lot like Spock, or I should say, Spock has a lot of Nimoy's mannerisms, and definitely a side of his personality. The thing about Spock is, he's not emotionless; he constantly has to suppress his emotions. That's what makes him so interesting. I guess the Quinto Spock doesn't work so hard at it, that's all.

I'd say that Spock (and most of the Star Trek characters, really) have a lot more depth than the Star Wars characters, at least from what I've seen. And I'm ok with that.

But if Abrams can find more facets in the Star Wars jewels, then more power to him. Impulse power, Force power, whatever it takes.
