Patti Page--so many memories

Obviously The Tennessee Waltz--I remember a local twin cities show in the fifties in which Pee Wee King (I think I have the right name) was the guest. He had written The Tennessee Waltz but spent the show singing other stuff and only talked about writing it a bit, but when he was finished they played the Patti Page record on the overhead and King dropped to his knees and started kowtowing to the record. He had earlier mentioned that the royalties got him out of debt and then some.

Changing Partners-oh, that saxophone solo. Teresa Teng had a big hit in Asia with basically the same arrangement. I don't know why, but Patti Page hits seem to have transferred to East Asia. Note all the Asian versions of The Tennessee Waltz and Changing Partners on youtube.

I went to your wedding--Always wondered if she was worried about the bride or the groom leaving her life.

And, of course, Hush, Hush. I can't remember without pulling the DVD if she even sang it in the movie. I think it was Al Martino, but I remember that Patti had a version.

For folks of a certain age, like me, she was THE female vocalist with a gorgeous contralto and impeccable diction. You got every word the first time when she sang.

RIP and thank you for all the beautiful music.
