I don't know, this could be a creative story line. It's original and has never been done before. I can't think of any super heroes that have been killed off in the comics. Except Superman. And Captain America. The Flash. Green Lantern. The Golden Age Green Lantern. Hawkgirl. Jean Gray. Professor X. Batman. Robin. Bucky. Johnny Storm.

Who did I forget? The Spectre, Spawn, and Deadman don't count.

And then there's the death of comic books in general. Alas, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. These deaths were hastened by the near monopoly created by Diamond Comics, high prices, poor art and even poorer writing. That's why the big budget comic book movies rely so heavily on storylines from the 1960s and early 70s. Where are Stan Lee and Roy Thomas when you need them?

Peter Parker is dead?

Yawwwwwwwwwn.
Also dead at one time or another was Red Ryan of Challengers of the Unknown, the Doom Patrol, the Dove (who I think actually stayed dead), and one of the Robins.

The idea goes all the way back to the Golden Age. Archie Comics, before Archie became the whole lineup, killed off The Comet and his brother took over his crimefighting duties as Hangman. This was clearly inspired by the death of the Falcon in the movies replaced by his brother.
