As I have noted elsewhere, newspaper comic strip adaptations have tended to lag behind comic book adaptations in recent decades. The pride of place for Jackman and Reeve has to do with them appearing in expensive (well, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace has a bit of point stretching) films, in contrast to programmers. Other than Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, has any film based on a newspaper comic strip indigenous property made since 1960 prodced a sequel in theaters?
