Well,we finally have power again.Thankfully,we got off OK:a soaked rug,no power for 4 days, nothing compared to what the good people of Louisiana and Mississippi have gone through.about the worst thing about it is the law firm my wife works at was flooded to the second floor, and may not open anytime soon, but we'll manage.Compared to friends at work that have lost their homes and everything they own because of the storm,we got off quite lightly.

Probably the worst thing that we've dealt with these last few days has been trying to get gas and food.2 1/2 hours of waiting in line with a hundred degree heat index and even hotter tempers has been an experience.Fist fights, hoarding, and other wonderful qualities of human nature that would make Jeff Foxworthy proud. One bubba tried to cut in line at the pumps and ended up in a ditch on the other side, and one genius thought nothing of filling up a couple of large drums in his flatbed while smoking a cigarette, with the inevitable fire .

On the other hand,I also got to know my neighbors a lot better.Too bad it takes something like this to bring people together, but at least it's a good thing.

I had heard about the damage Katrina had wrought on N'awlins,Biloxi etc. on the radio, but it wasn't until Thursday, when power returned and we saw the images of destruction, chaos and tragedy on the TV,that the reality of it all suckerpunched the two of us in the worst way.Nothing we had gone through this week even came close to the horror these people are going through.a few days of discomfort is peanuts in comparison.

Hopefully, everyone else on the boards that lives in the path of Katrina has come through with minimal harm to their homesand families, and will be back soon. You are in my thoughts, guys.

And thank you to all that wished us well.Another reason that this board is becoming more and more like my home on the net. =)
