Craig -- That's Mina you're talking about.

I know it's confusing, because the Dracula films insist on swapping the two roles at their whim.  (The roles are reversed, in Langella, for instance.)  Mina, in Lugosi & the novel, is Harker's girlfriend.  She's the one they're running around trying to save, the one Lugosi/Drac takes to Carfax Abbey.  Lucy is Mina's friend who gets bit early on, dies, and comes back to bite girls "lightly on the neck" or something like that in the film.

Van Helsing promises our heroes that Lucy will "find rest tonight," or something similar, but then we never see anything happen to Lucy again, and there's no reference to her fate in the final cut.  In the Spanish version, she is said to have been killed (and we hear her cry out) after Van Helsing and Harker visit the cemetery.  But that scene isn't in the Lugosi picture, she just ... vanishes.  (Or goes on biting little girls, if you prefer.)

Mina is rescued from following Dracula into undeath when Drac is killed -- as you say -- and ends the movie ascending the stairs with Harker at the fade-out.  (She's Eva, or something like that, in the Spanish version.)

But Lucy (like the brides of Dracula in Transylvania) continues to roam free at the end of the Lugosi version -- at least, so far as we know. :-)
