I've been re-watching the 80s TZ on YouTube. While it can be charitably called hit-or-miss, it was still far better than most what was playing on TV in that decade, and considerably better than most science fiction TV since (including many series playing now). Even the much maligned Canadian third season has some fine episodes. They do have some problems, of course. The accusations of preachiness leveled against Serling seems quaint when you look at the level featured in this show, although it mercifully never reaches Aaron Sorkin-like levels of idiocy. And the production values sometimes fail to match the imagination or quality level of the scripts. That's especially true of "Monsters" which is wonderfully scripted by Robert Crais and features marvelous performances by Ralph Bellamy (one of his last performances) and young Oliver Robbins (POLTERGEIST) but then the climax....well, turn it off before then, because up until then, it's great, perfect for anyone who grew up with FAMOUS MONSTERS.
