PS - so, apparently, all Korean original elements are now destroyed. Seriously, how to explain the apparent indifference of Koreans, Thais, Filipinos, etc. for their movie heritage?

You seem to be under the impression that they were intentionally destroyed. Isn't it also possible that the films were destroyed in accidents or disasters? Let's not forget that those countries have warm, humid climates that can ruin film elements, especially if the studio can't afford climate-controlled facilities to store them in.

Hell, for all we know, some employee(s) decided to help themselves to some prints when they left the company and the studio assumed that the prints were "destroyed" when they couldn't find them in storage. On a similar note, it wouldn't surprise me if a lost film or two currently resides in Kim Jong-Il's gigantic movie collection.
