My Classic Media copy of Gojira finally arrived and I watched it yesterday afternoon.

I'm afraid my knowledge of Kaiju films is limited to vague childhood memories of Godzilla flicks playing on the late, late show (here in Canada--That's back in the late late 1970's). Please bear with me as my list of questions is quite lengthy. I won't fit them all in this post, neither.

All I currently own are VHS copies of Godzilla's Revenge and King Kong vs Godzilla.

As far as the original Gojira is concerned, I have only ever caught glimpses of the US Godzilla KOM with Raymond Burr.

All I have to say is WOW! What a treat! I've always been a firm believer in watching a film in its original language and release. This film only helps in fortifying this belief. I loved this movie. No wonder it has been praised as a monumental film for so long! Can't wait to watch with the commentary.

Besides the great acting and directing, what blew me away was Akira Ifukube's musical score! That meloncholic requiem music lingered with me all of last night and well into today (the choir singing---Is it me or does that not still invoke visions of the utter devastation caused by nuclear fallout?)

The Godzilla "theme" with the sound of gigantic footprints marching is cool, too.

I read up a wee bit, and I guess Ifukube wrote the scores for many other Kaiju films as well.

Can't wait to familiarize myself with the various different film themes.

I have now gone ahead and ordered the Classic Media releases of "Invasion of Astro Monster" (Monster Zero back in the day I guess) and "Ghidorah". I do intend to order Mothra vs Godzilla, just waiting for the right price.

From what I gather, Rodan and War of the G's will be released soon as well. Those are definitely on my must get list.

I know Frankenstein Conquers the World is sort've a prequel to War of The G's. Is it really worth getting?

Same goes for Godzilla Raids Again. I haven't read that many good reviews of this one. Aside from helping to complete one's collection, should this one go on the waiting list also?

As a side note, it always amazes me how many members of the CHFB are so active in the re-release of the films we love so well. In this case I noticed Keith Aiken and Ted Newsom being thanked in the inside liner page of the accompanying booklet. Were these guys (you guys) actually involved in the remastering process?

Just curious.

Thanks for your patience. I'll have plenty more questions in the near future ;--)

Oh yeah: Love the scene where Gozilla is looking over the mountain on Ooto Island.
