They recorded the music and sound effects in the same sessions, but not at the same time -- since most of the music tracks do not contain sound effects. The only two I can recall offhand are the Opening Credits (Ifukube's military march and Godzilla's roar and footfalls) and the Aftermath (the hospital scene with the requiem and the screaming of the little girl).

Other than that, there wasn't much else recorded at the same time; GODZILLA also had a sound recordist, a sound effects engineer (what we call a Foley Artist now) and a sound mixer -- who laid all of the sound recording tracks together.
